Hearthside Family Pets ~  has ventured into the show world.

We would like others to also be encouraged to do this, if you have the urge.  We have wonderful dogs here, and are thankful for this opportunity to let others see them.  This is such a fun thing to do
with your own pet(s).  We are also having fun as a family - going to the dog shows.

Our first show was April 12th, 2008 in Harrisonville, MO.  This was an APRI (American Pet Registry, Inc) dog show.  We took our Jed (Misty Cove's Legend of the Fall) and our Maisie (My Beloved Maisie Belle of Hearthside) and just had so much fun.
Our second show was on April 19th, the very next week-end.  Again, we took Jed.  Maisie is still in the puppy class, so we are waiting until after July 8th to return her to the show ring.  We took our little poodle, 'Cotton' Mather of Hearthside, and Riegelz 'Violet' Brigetta of Hearthside and Kismet's 'Samantha' Rose of Hearthside.  All did very well.

May 24th ~ Bolivar, MO. will be our next show.

You may wonder why we are going with the APRI dog shows instead of AKC?  Don't we have AKC registered dogs?  Yes, we do.
And, we have a super amount of respect for the AKC dog club, and all that they do to protect the breeds that they register.
Our reasons for showing with APRI are several.
   1. They have one day shows, instead of two days - no taking up our Sundays (the Lord's day) to return to the dog show.
   2. They have many shows around Missouri for us to attend, we'll probably go to 5 or 6 this spring through fall.
   3. Children are able to show also - this is a very family friendly activity.
   4. The way the dogs are judged, lends to a more friendly attitude at the show events.  APRI uses a point system, judging each
dog according to the AKC breed standard conformation rules.  The dogs are not judged by which one is best, but instead by
how well it compares to the standard for that breed.
   5. We are also able to show our sables at APRI shows.
